Research, evaluation & policy

Understand a sector, assess a programme and give decisions a stronger evidence base.

Research, evaluation & policy

Questions we help address.

What is happening in a sector? Which needs are insufficiently addressed? Where could support make a useful contribution? How should a programme be designed, assessed or adapted?

What an engagement can include.

Market and ecosystem studies. Value chains, stakeholders, business models, financing conditions and development opportunities.

Strategic diagnostics. Organisational, territorial or sector-level analysis, including the experience of users and practitioners.

Programme design and evaluation. Needs assessment, intervention logic, implementation arrangements, indicators and assessment of the evidence available.

Policy options. Comparison of approaches, feasibility considerations, stakeholder consultation and implementation priorities.

Outputs.

Depending on scope: a research report, a stakeholder map, a comparative analysis, a diagnostic, a programme framework, an evaluation report or a decision brief.

We agree the questions, geographic scope, methods and intended use of the findings at the start of the engagement.

Working with uneven evidence.

Sources are identified and cross-checked where possible. We distinguish established findings, estimates and hypotheses. Evidence gaps and methodological limits remain visible in the recommendations.

Research involving people is organised with appropriate information, consent arrangements and confidentiality measures. The treatment of interview material is agreed before collection.

From findings to decisions.

Recommendations are connected to the organisation’s remit, resources and capacity to act. When relevant, the work identifies priorities, responsibilities and a sequence for implementation.
